IXD: Project 2- Club Website
About the Project

In this project, I was given the scenario of a (fictional) regional recreational club requesting website promotional assistance to gain members and sponsors. Within this fictional club, the would want to host events, offer lessons, and rent/sell merch.
I had to create a brand and a website while accomplishing the objectives:
Using a "fig jam" within Figma as an open discussion as a brainstorming method to identify potential ideas for clubs.
Thinking outside the box (or the "Squarespace".) Use a website design prototyping tool instead.
Using Adobe Illustrator to create a "word mark."
Using Figma prototyping tools.
Looking at website templates and examples and using a template as a sizing guide.
Thinking"offline." Create "online."
Muay Thai Moodboard
Write about any connection you have to the fictional interest club you chose to create. If you had no previous connection to the interest or sport, how did you choose this sport? Where did you conduct your research and find information?
I chose to do my website on Muay Thai because there is a Muay Thai club at Middle Tennessee State University. I feel like there should be more promotion towards the club since it's still relatively small. It was also a plus for me to do because my best friend is half-Thai and I got to learn a lot of cultural significance and other aspects through her. A lot of my research was conducted by looking at various Muay Thai gyms both in America and Thailand to see what they include on their websites and what was not included. I also did research on Thai mythology and chose the Thai version of the pegasus so it has a connection to MTSU's mascot.
While continuing my research on the sport, I had to make sure I was being respectful to the culture. My friend suggested on the home page of the website, the section with the header "Why do Muay Thai?," to keep the boxers feet facing away from Buddha. This is because in Buddhism, they find it disrespectful to have feet facing the Buddha.
Write about what interdisciplinary connections you made while working on this project. How did you incorporate knowledge from Two-Dimensional Art & Design, Three-Dimensional Design, Drawing, English, Creative Writing, Photography, Computer Science, etc? Did you have to do additional research beyond your existing knowledge?
The interdisciplinary connections I used while creating this website was a variety of Principles of Design and Elements of Art. Having various elements being present throughout the website, I had to consider spacing, size, color, and user interaction.
For the overall design, I wanted it to be clean and simple but invoke a sense of power through the typeface and colors. The colors chosen for this is red, black, gold, with accents of white and blue. This set of colors are common to see associated with Muay Thai and some aspects within Thailand. Also looking at other Muay Thai websites, they use mostly 2-3 colors to draw in students. For picking the typeface to use for the website, I wanted a bold geometric font that shows an element of power and discipline.
While looking for imagery, I wanted to keep it consistent with the subject I'm putting that specific image under. For example, of the beginner classes image I wanted to look for an image that would look the most like a picture take of someone's first day at a may Thai gym.
I also did extra research on how make the interactive elements more interesting for the viewer. Which in-turn made my process of making the website faster.
